Jake Shears, born Jason F. Sellards on October 3, 1978, is an American singer-songwriter and performer best known as the lead vocalist of the pop-rock band Scissor Sisters. Hailing from Mesa, Arizona and raised on San Juan Island, Washington, Shears moved to New York City where he eventually formed Scissor Sisters in 2001.
