Modern Nature is a UK-based experimental music project formed by Jack Cooper, formerly of Ultimate Painting and Mazes. Created as an evolving musical collective, Modern Nature blends elements of jazz, folk, ambient, and post-rock to create spacious, meditative soundscapes. Since their 2019 debut with the album How To Live, the group has steadily evolved its sonic palette, often incorporating field recordings, extended instrumentals, and free-form improvisation.
Their lineup has included notable collaborators such as saxophonist Jeff Tobias (Sunwatchers) and drummer Jim Wallis, among others. Albums like Island of Noise and No Fixed Point In Space showcase the band's commitment to exploration and a deep connection with natural themes. Modern Nature’s music leans into mood and texture, offering a cerebral yet emotional listening experience that feels both contemporary and timeless.
