I Start Counting

I Start Counting is an English band composed of David Baker and Simon Leonard. They are known for their eclectic blend of electronic and pop music, often incorporating avant-garde elements into their sound. The duo started performing in the early 1980s, initially doing discos at Middlesex Polytechnic. Simon Leonard, who had previously been involved with the noise band File Under Pop, brought his experience with electronic equipment to the group. I Start Counting gained recognition for singles like "Still Smiling" in 1985 and "Million Headed Monster" in 1989. Their music often explores a wide range of styles, from pop to experimental electronic sounds, which has contributed to their unique position in the musical landscape of the late 20th century.

Their discography includes albums and singles that reflect their experimental approach, such as "Fused" and "My Translucent Hands." Despite their innovative style, they are perhaps most famous for frequently appearing in record shop bargain bins, a testament to their consistent yet unconventional output.
