Formula 3

Formula 3 is an Italian progressive and psychedelic rock band that was particularly influential in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Founded in 1969 by Alberto Radius, Gabriele Lorenzi, and Tony Cicco, the trio became well known in Italian music circles for their dynamic sound and their collaboration with esteemed singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. Battisti, along with lyricist Mogol, contributed significantly to the group's early success, providing them with songs that became hits and helped to establish their reputation. Formula 3 was also noted for their ability at live performances, where their blend of rock, pop, and classical influences showcased their technical prowess and musical versatility.

The group's association with Lucio Battisti is profound, as seen in releases such as "La Formula Di Battisti," "Il Nostro Caro Lucio," and "I successi di Lucio Battisti." These collections celebrate Battisti's songwriting contributions to Formula 3's repertoire, underlining the symbiotic relationship between the band and one of Italy's most revered musical talents. Over the years, they've built a respectable discography, with releases like "La casa dell'imperatore" and the "1970 Recording Session" capturing the essence of their early sound. Their album "Emozioni," named after a Battisti song they popularized, remains a landmark in their career. Although the band has undergone lineup changes and periods of inactivity, their influence on the Italian progressive rock scene remains undeniable, and their work continues to be discovered by new generations of music enthusiasts.
