Cihat Aşkın is a distinguished Turkish violinist and composer recognized for his extensive contribution to both classical and contemporary music. Born in Istanbul in 1968, Aşkın displayed profound musical talent at a young age, starting his violin lessons with Ayhan Turan and later continuing his studies at the prestigious Ankara State Conservatory with Prof. Suna Kan. Afterward, he enhanced his artistry in London on a state scholarship, where he received his master's degree from the Royal College of Music and subsequently a doctorate from the City University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Cihat Aşkın’s career is marked by his masterful interpretations of both classical repertoire and works by Turkish composers. He has performed with numerous orchestras worldwide and given recitals that showcase his depth and versatility as a musician. His recent releases, such as his interpretations of Fritz Kreisler’s compositions and Kreutzer's 42 Etudes, attest to his technical prowess and expressive insight. Embracing his cultural roots, Aşkın has also recorded albums like "Türk Valsleri" (Turkish Waltzes), which capture the essence of Turkish melodic tradition. Passionate about expanding the reach of music, Aşkın is also the founder of the "CAKA - Cihat Aşkın and Little Friends" project, aiming to introduce children to the violin and music in general. He is a respected figure in the music world, known for his dedication to music education and his contributions to expanding the violin repertoire with new arrangements and compositions.
