Blanck Mass is the solo project of British musician Benjamin John Power, primarily known as one half of the electronic duo Fuck Buttons, which he formed with Andrew Hung. As Blanck Mass, Power builds immersive soundscapes that are at once expansive and introspective, combining elements of drone, ambient, and noise music with a gripping emotional intensity. He initiated this venture in 2011 with a self-titled debut album, broadening his reach within the world of avant-garde electronic music.
Over the years, Blanck Mass's sonic palette has evolved immensely. With releases like "Dumb Flesh" (2015) and "World Eater" (2017), Power honed a signature sound that melds pulsating rhythms with sweeping electronic textures, often touching upon themes of nature, humanity, and the chaos of existence. His later works such as "Animated Violence Mild" (2019) and "In Ferneaux" (2021) showcase an artist unafraid to push the boundaries of the genre, incorporating a mix of crushing intensity and haunting beauty. Power has also become a notable composer for film and television, contributing original scores for projects like "Calm With Horses" and the biographical drama "Ted K". "The Rig (Prime Video Original Series Soundtrack)" is among his latest offerings, cementing his reputation as a formidable force in both electronic music and audiovisual composition.
