Dusted Angel is a Santa Cruz-based heavy rock band known for its crushing doom and stoner metal sound infused with groove-laden riffs and a touch of California sunshine. Formed around 2008-2009 by a tight-knit group of longtime friends from the local music scene, the band includes Clifford Dinsmore (vocals), Eric "Dog" Fieber (guitar), Eliot Young (bass), Steve Ilse (drums), and Eddie Gregor (guitar). Their music carries the weight and vibe of classic '70s doom pioneers like Pentagram and Saint Vitus, blending vintage heavy psych and sludge elements with a modern edge.
Despite early successes with their debut album *Earthsick Mind* and relentless gigging, the band faced significant challenges including the loss of founding drummer Bill Torgerson, health struggles of members, and the pandemic. Frontman Clifford Dinsmore personally battled cancer and a bone marrow transplant, yet the band persevered, slowly returning with renewed energy and fresh collaborations, especially after Eddie Gregor joined. Their latest album, *This Side of the Dirt* (2025), released on Heavy Psych Sounds, showcases their resilience and evolution, featuring tracks like "Plastic People" and "Death Crushes Hope" that resonate with both doom metal fans and those who appreciate heavy groove rock with depth.
