Charles Koechlin was a French composer, teacher, and writer on music. He was born in Paris in 1867 and died there in 1950. Koechlin studied at the Paris Conservatory and was a pupil of Jules Massenet and Gabriel Fauré. He was a prolific composer, writing over 200 works in a variety of genres, including orchestral music, chamber music, opera, and songs. Koechlin's music is often characterized by its use of complex rhythms and harmonies, as well as its evocative and atmospheric qualities. He was also a gifted teacher, and many of his students went on to become successful composers themselves.
