Andras Kecskes

András Kecskés is a distinguished Hungarian lutenist, multi-instrumentalist, and music historian born in Budapest in 1942. He has made significant contributions to the research and performance of early music, especially from the medieval and renaissance periods. Kecskés studied guitar and lute extensively, earning multiple diplomas from prestigious institutions such as the Vienna Conservatory and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He became renowned as a member of the internationally acclaimed Clemencic Consort, led by René Clemencic, participating in numerous recordings and tours. In addition to his performing career, Kecskés is the founder and director of the Kecskés Ensemble, which specializes in historical music, including Hungarian folk and early Ottoman-influenced music, producing albums like *Faidit: Troubadour Music from the 12th-13th Centuries* and *Music of the Kuruc Era*.

His work focuses on authentic interpretations of medieval and early modern music, blending scholarly research with vibrant performances. Over the years, Kecskés has been recognized as a key figure in preserving and revitalizing Hungary's rich musical heritage. He is also a member of the Visegrád Saint George's Knights and has been honored with the title of Hungary’s Érdemes Művész (Meritorious Artist).
