Néstor Fabián Cortés Garzón

Néstor Fabián Cortés Garzón is a renowned Colombian cellist and musical director, born on March 4, 1983, in Pereira, Colombia. He began his musical journey by learning percussion and guitar at the Conservatorio de la Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. Cortés Garzón later studied modern cello at the Conservatorio de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, graduating with honors. His passion for early music grew through projects at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and masterclasses with the Academy for Early Music Berlin. He further specialized in historical performance practice by completing a postgraduate and master's degree under Viola de Hoog at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen.

As the co-founder and artistic director of the Bremer Barockorchester, Cortés Garzón has led the ensemble in numerous performances, including the release of their debut CD, "BACH to the Roots!" in 2020, which was nominated for the International Classical Music Award 2021. Additionally, he directs the ensemble Los Temperamentos, which focuses on rediscovering Baroque music from South and Central America. Cortés Garzón is also known for his expertise in ornamentation practices of the 17th and 18th centuries, and his concert tours have taken him across Europe and Latin America.
