OLDCODEX

OLDCODEX is a Japanese rock band that has carved a unique niche for themselves within the music and anime industries, meshing powerful rock melodies with distinct visual artistry. The band was formed in 2009, co-founded by the energetic vocalist Takuya Yamanaka and the multifaceted artist and actor Ryo Yamaoka, known for his painting and contribution as the band's "painter". However, Yamaoka left the band in 2010, leaving the visual contributions to the vocalist Yamanaka who also took up an integral visual role. This partnership resulted in OLDCODEX's signature synergy of music and customized visual performances that often extend into the realm of anime theme songs and music videos, giving them a strong presence in the otaku culture.

Throughout their career, OLDCODEX has consistently delivered a series of dynamic releases, each showcasing their progression and relentless energy. From singles like "Lantana" to the full-throttle rhythms found in albums such as "Full Colors" and "LADDERLESS," their music often contains a blend of alt-rock aggression and polished production that attracts a diverse listener base. Additionally, their work often crosses over into the anime industry; for example, "Heading to Over" was featured as a theme for the popular anime "Free! -Dive to the Future-". With Takuya Yamanaka's passionate vocals at the forefront, OLDCODEX continues to engage fans at live performances where their music is complemented by striking visual art elements, embodying the unique duality that defines the band's artistic identity.
