Young People

**Young People** was an indie experimental folk trio formed in the early 2000s, originally hailing from Brooklyn, New York. The band’s core lineup included Katie Eastburn (vocals, keyboards, and percussion), Jeff Rosenstock (guitar), and Jarvis Taveniere (drums), with later lineup changes as members pursued other projects. Known for their raw, minimalist sound and Eastburn’s hauntingly expressive vocals, Young People blended art-rock, folk, and avant-garde influences into albums like their self-titled debut (2005) and *All at Once* (2006). Their music often felt intimate yet unsettling, with poetic lyrics and sparse arrangements that left room for emotional tension. Though the group disbanded around 2009, their cult following and influence lingered, with members later contributing to acts like Woods (Taveniere) and solo endeavors (Eastburn). A small but impactful catalog keeps their legacy alive for fans of off-kilter, heartfelt indie experimentation.
