Tomás Cotik

**Tomás Cotik** is an Argentine-American violinist celebrated for his dynamic interpretations of Baroque classics and Argentine tango. Born in Buenos Aires, he honed his craft at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Buenos Aires before earning degrees from the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he completed his DMA. Now a professor at Portland State University, Cotik balances teaching with a prolific recording career, showcasing his passion for J.S. Bach, Telemann, and Mozart alongside fiery arrangements of Astor Piazzolla’s tango compositions.

Known for breathing new life into historical works, Cotik has impressively recorded all six of Bach’s *Sonatas & Partitas* and even adapted the *Cello Suites* for violin. His collaborations with pianist Tao Lin and arrangements with orchestras (like his Piazzolla series with Ken Selden) highlight his versatility. Albums like *Serenata del Gaucho* and *Paganini: Capriccio* on labels such as Naxos and Centaur Records have earned praise from *Gramophone* and *The Strad* for their technical precision and emotional depth.
