The Rah Band

The Rah Band is a British electronic music project that's been crafting quirky synth-driven grooves since the late 1970s. Masterminded by producer/musician Richard Anthony Hewson (whose initials form the "R.A.H." moniker), the group became cult favorites with their 1985 spacey disco hit "Clouds Across the Moon," featuring his wife Liz Hewson's deadpan vocals about interstellar marriage woes. Blending jazzy brass, playful electronic experimentation, and cheeky lyrical themes, their sound became a hallmark of UK underground dance floors.

Though originally a studio project, The Rah Band has seen renewed interest in recent years with remastered classics like the 2024 version of "Messages from the Stars" and fresh remixes like the frosty "Winter Love (Below Zero Remix)." Their 2022 live recording at London's Jazz Café and retro-futuristic releases like "Orkestronique" prove Hewson's signature blend of electronic textures and live instrumentation still shines decades later – a testament to their enduring charm as pioneers of left-field synth-pop.
