Trapeze was an English rock band formed in March 1969 in Cannock, Staffordshire. The band's original lineup included Glenn Hughes (bass, piano, vocals), Mel Galley (guitar, vocals), Dave Holland (drums), John Jones (vocals, trumpet), and Terry Rowley (keyboards, guitar, flute). After releasing their self-titled debut album in 1970, Jones and Rowley left the band. Hughes, Galley, and Holland continued, releasing *Medusa* in 1970 and *You Are the Music... We're Just the Band* in 1972. Glenn Hughes departed in 1973 to join Deep Purple, and the band continued with various lineups, releasing albums like *Hot Wire* in 1974 and *Hold On* in 1978. Despite never achieving major commercial success, Trapeze's members went on to join notable bands such as Deep Purple, Judas Priest, and Whitesnake.
Trapeze's music career spanned several decades, with the band finally dissolving in the early 1990s. Their legacy is marked by their early psychedelic rock sound and the later hard rock direction they took. The band's fluid lineup and contributions to the broader rock scene have made them a fascinating footnote in the history of British rock music. Their discography includes a mix of studio albums and live recordings, showcasing their evolution over the years.
