Arno De Cea And The Clockwork Wizards

Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards is a brutal surf music trio from the South West of France, originally formed in 2008 on the country’s “Silver Coast.” Known for blending the intensity of punk hardcore and the inventiveness of noise rock into the surf music tradition, the band creates a sound that’s as fiery as it is technically adventurous—picture what would happen if Dick Dale swapped his guitar for a flamethrower, backed by a muscular, frenetic rhythm section. The group’s membership has included Alexis Toussaint, Arnaud De Cea, Fanny Ridrimont, Maarten Schepers, Sébastien Calis, Thierry Causera, and Yann Geoffriaud at various points, and they draw inspiration from visionary musicians outside the traditional surf genre, like Sun Ra and Chrome.

With a discography that ranges from raw EPs to full-length albums—including their recent Rétrofuturisme trilogy—Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards have also released standout records like Sergent Surf, Flash Freezing the Sun, Bug Terminal, and Surf It Up!
