Joona Toivanen Trio

The Joona Toivanen Trio is a Finnish jazz ensemble led by pianist and composer Joona Toivanen. Formed in 1997, the trio originally consisted of Toivanen, bassist Tapani Toivanen, and drummer Olavi Louhivuori. They gained recognition as the house band at the Jazz Bar in Finland, developing their skills through extensive live performances. The trio's music combines modern piano jazz with influences from Finnish folk music, often characterized by a subtle melancholy typical of Nordic jazz. They have released several albums, including their debut "Numurkah," which received critical acclaim and led to international tours across Europe, Asia, and Australia.

In recent years, the trio has continued to produce notable works, such as "Both Only" released in 2022.
