Fairyland

Fairyland is a French symphonic power metal band known for their epic, fantastical storytelling and orchestrated sound, which heavily draws inspiration from classical music. The project was originally founded in 1998 under the name "Fantasia" by keyboardist Philippe Giordana and guitarist Willdric Lievin. However, it wasn't until 2003, when they changed their name to Fairyland, that they released their first full-length album, "Of Wars in Osyhria." The band's musical compositions often encompass grand, sweeping narratives, bringing listeners on a journey through mythical lands and heroic adventures.

Focusing on conceptual continuity, Fairyland has crafted an intricate musical fantasy world with each album building upon the lore of the last. Their discography is marked by a series of ambitious albums, with "The Fall of an Empire" in 2006 and "Score to a New Beginning" in 2009 developing the band's penchant for complex, thematic material and lush orchestration. After a significant hiatus, the band returned in 2020 with "Osyrhianta," a record that continues the narrative they are known for and is celebrated for its attention to melodic detail and narrative structure. Songs like "The Hidden Kingdom of Eloran" and "Heralds of the Green Lands" further delve into the magical universe that is signature Fairyland, gratifying fans with their intense, cinematic quality and expanding on the band's legacy in the symphonic metal genre. Despite numerous line-up changes over the years, with Giordana remaining the steadfast core member, Fairyland's commitment to their art has earned them a loyal following and a respected place within the symphonic metal community.
