Roberto Somoza

Roberto Somoza is a Galician saxophonist born in London. He began his musical journey at the age of eight, studying clarinet, solfège, and harmony at the Conservatory of A Coruña. Somoza later became self-taught in saxophone and was a member of the orchestra "Los Satélites," where he developed his skills under the guidance of his brother José Somoza. He has collaborated with numerous artists from the Galician jazz scene, including Antonio Cal, Fernando Llorca, and Nani García. Somoza is also a professor of saxophone in the jazz department at the Conservatorio Superior de Música da Coruña.

As a recording artist, Roberto Somoza has released several albums, including *Regra de Tres* (2004), *Tempos de Cambio* (2006), *Trío Eléctrico* (2008), *The Vanguard* (2009), and *Yellow* (2010). His music often features original compositions and collaborations with other notable musicians. Additionally, he directs and arranges for the Garufa Blue Devils Big Band, a group he founded in 2014. Somoza's work spans various genres and projects, showcasing his versatility as a musician and educator in the jazz scene.
