Anadolu rock (Anatolian rock) is a Turkish genre that fuses Western rock’s guitars, bass, drums, and studio experimentation with the melodic language of Anatolian folk and Ottoman-rooted traditions. Emerging strongly in the late 1960s–70s, it often draws on bağlama-like riffs and modal (makam) motifs, blending them with psychedelic textures, funk-leaning grooves, and driving prog-style arrangements. Lyrics commonly reflect everyday life, love, social change, and political feeling, delivered with an earthy vocal style that can swing from raw and urgent to lush and melancholic.
