Balochi Folk

Balochi folk is the traditional music of the Baloch people of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, rooted in oral storytelling and communal dance. It often features powerful, ornamented vocals in Balochi languages, carrying tales of love, honor, exile, tribal history, and desert life. The sound is driven by rhythmic handclaps and drums like the *dohol* with the sharp double-reed *sorud*, and in many coastal and eastern styles, the bowed *banjo* or *damburag* adds a bright, insistent pulse. Performances range from intimate lament-like ballads to fast, trance-leaning dance tunes for weddings and celebrations.
