Benga
Benga is a vibrant and rhythmic genre of music that originated in Kenya during the 1940s and 1950s, characterized by its fast-paced, syncopated beats and lyrical guitar riffs. Often led by an electric guitar that mimics traditional Kenyan string instruments, Benga seamlessly blends indigenous African rhythms with modern instruments, creating an energetic and danceable sound. Its roots are deeply embedded in the Luo community, but Benga has transcended ethnic boundaries, gaining widespread popularity across East Africa.
