Bluegrass fiddle is the high-energy, string-band style of Appalachian roots music led by the violin, blending old-time dance tunes with the drive and precision of modern bluegrass. It features bright, cutting tone; rapid bowing patterns like shuffles and sawstrokes; tight rhythmic “chop” backup; and breaks packed with slides, double-stops, and bluesy inflections.
