Breaks (or breakbeat) is an electronic dance genre built around chopped, syncopated drum breaks—snare-heavy grooves that hit harder and swing more than straight four-on-the-floor. Its rhythms often borrow from funk and hip-hop, then get reassembled with tight edits, stutters, fills, and rolling basslines that push a gritty, forward-driving momentum.
