Cornish Folk

Cornish folk is a tradition-rooted style from Cornwall, England, shaped by coastal life and Celtic heritage. It often blends sturdy dance tunes and lyrical ballads with strong communal singing, especially in sea shanties and work songs that reflect fishing towns and maritime history. The sound commonly features close-harmony choruses (from male choirs to mixed and children’s voices), clear, hearty lead vocals, and simple but driving accompaniment—fiddles, accordions, guitars, and occasional pipes—built for pubs, festivals, and gatherings. Themes of the sea, home, faith, and local pride are central, giving the genre a warm, anthemic feel.
