Deep Tropical House

Deep tropical house is a subgenre of electronic dance music characterized by its lush, atmospheric soundscapes, often featuring lush synthesizers, percussive tropical rhythms, and catchy vocal melodies. Emerging in the mid-2010s, deep tropical house drew inspiration from tropical house, deep house, and indie dance music, with artists incorporating elements of world music, particularly Afrobeat and Latin American rhythms. The genre gained popularity around 2015-2017, with its laid-back, sun-kissed vibe resonating with listeners seeking a more relaxed, feel-good alternative to mainstream EDM. Deep tropical house not only reflected the cultural desire for escapism but also played a significant role in shaping the sound of contemporary electronic music, influencing the development of subsequent genres like chillout and melodic house. Its unique blend of organic and electronic elements, often featuring instruments like guitars, flutes, and marimbas, sets it apart from other styles, creating a distinctive sonic identity that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
