Dutch Trap

Dutch trap is a subgenre of trap music, which originates from the Southern United States but has been distinctly localized by artists in the Netherlands. Blending hard-hitting bass lines and crisp hi-hats typical of traditional trap with Dutch language raps, this genre often revolves around themes of urban life, struggles, and success in the streets. Producers in the scene tend to incorporate electronic and club-influenced sounds, creating a vibe that's both gritty and danceable. Artists like Andy VDM, RiCh, and Vic9 have pushed the genre into the spotlight, showcasing a unique European twist to the sound, replete with localized slang and cultural references, making Dutch trap a resonant voice for the Dutch urban experience and a vibrant branch of the global trap music tree.
