Early American Folk

Early American folk music is a rich tapestry that embodies the heart and soul of America's past, weaving together the diverse cultural influences that shaped the nation. This genre encompasses a broad spectrum of musical styles, from the plaintive ballads and spirited jigs of colonial America to the Civil War era's rallying songs and the haunting melodies of the Appalachian and frontier regions. Artists within this genre, such as the Hesperus Early Music Ensemble and Bobby Horton, employ a wide range of traditional instruments, including fiddles, banjos, and dulcimers, to bring authentic sonic textures to their interpretations of historical tunes. Through their meticulous research and passionate performances, they keep the legacy of American folk music alive, offering listeners a sonic journey back in time to the very roots of American cultural and musical heritage.
