Grunge Pop

Grunge pop is a subgenre of alternative rock that intertwines the abrasive, gritty musical elements typical of grunge music with the catchy hooks and melodic sensibilities of pop. Stemming from the early 1990s and gaining prominence in parallel with the raw sounds of Seattle's grunge explosion, grunge pop artists often showcase distorted guitar riffs, a powerful, driving rhythm section, and introspective, often angst-filled lyrics delivered with a potent vocal style.
