Unique elements setting it apart include the use of microtones, emphasis on improvisation, and the importance of the guru-shishya parampara (teacher-disciple tradition). The genre's expressive vocal styles, often accompanied by instruments like the sitar, tabla, and tanpura, continue to captivate audiences with their emotional intensity and technical complexity.
