Baps

Baps is a devotional music genre rooted in the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu tradition, centered on bhajans, kirtans, and prarthana (prayerful songs) that blend Gujarati/Hindi lyrics with accessible, melodic arrangements. Its hallmark is a calm, reverent mood designed for worship, satsang, and personal meditation, often emphasizing virtues like devotion, service, discipline, and divine remembrance. Vocals are typically clear and leading, supported by harmonium, tabla/dholak, handclaps, and increasingly soft contemporary instrumentation, balancing traditional raga-inspired phrases with modern devotional songwriting.
