Latmiya

Latmiya is a genre of devotional music primarily associated with Shia Islam, often performed during religious ceremonies and memorials, particularly in the lead-up to and during Muharram and Ashura. The music is characterized by its poignant and somber themes, expressing mourning and remembrance for the martyrs of Karbala, especially Imam Hussein. Incorporating a mix of chanting, recitation, and rhythmic beating, latmiya serves as a powerful medium for evoking emotion and spiritual reflection among listeners.
