Multidisciplinary

Multidisciplinary music defies traditional genre boundaries, blending disparate styles and mediums to create a unique sonic tapestry. Characterized by eclectic instrumentation, often incorporating electronic and acoustic elements, and a willingness to experiment with unconventional sounds, multidisciplinary music thrives on creative freedom. Emerging in the 2010s, this genre drew inspiration from avant-garde, ambient, and industrial traditions, as well as visual art and performance practices. As a reflection of its era, multidisciplinary music embodies a post-internet ethos, where artists fluidly navigate and merge different disciplines to produce innovative, genre-agnostic works. By challenging traditional notions of music-making, this genre has fostered a vibrant, global community of artists who value experimentation and creative risk-taking.
