Oeteldonk

Oeteldonk is the festive, brass-driven carnival music of ’s‑Hertogenbosch (Oeteldonk), built for parades, cafés, and packed squares. It blends “dweilorkest” street-band energy—punchy horns, thumping drums, singalong refrains, and quick polka/waltz grooves—with playful, often dialect lyrics full of local jokes, traditions, and mock-ceremonial pride. Songs are deliberately catchy and communal: made to be shouted in unison, swayed to arm-in-arm, and repeated endlessly during Carnaval. The sound can range from rough-and-ready marching chaos to polished choir-and-band arrangements, but it always keeps a warm, mischievous, celebratory spirit.
