Soundcloud Rap

SoundCloud rap is an internet-driven hip-hop subgenre that blends emo, trap, and lo-fi aesthetics with raw, emotional storytelling. Emerging in the mid-2010s, it thrives on underground appeal, often featuring melancholic melodies, hazy beats, and distorted 808s. Artists in this scene embrace themes of heartbreak, drug use, and personal struggle, delivering vulnerable, often auto-tuned vocals over dreamy or dark instrumentals. DIY production and a direct-to-fan approach define the genre, with many artists rising independently through viral SoundCloud uploads.
