War Metal

War metal, often synonymous with "bestial black metal," is an aggressive, raw subgenre of extreme metal characterized by a chaotic and frenzied sound that embodies the violence and brutality of war. Fusing elements of death metal and black metal, it boasts a lo-fi aesthetic with distorted guitars, relentless blast beat drumming, and guttural vocal performances that seem to evoke the roar of battle. The lyrics often delve into themes of conflict, savagery, and blasphemy. This genre is not for the faint-hearted, prioritizing intensity and a sense of primal rage over melody or traditional song structures. Bands like Archgoat and Revenge are known for their uncompromising ferocity, immersing listeners in a sonic assault that mirrors the unrestrained chaos of warfare.
