Wu Fam

Wu Fam, a term derived from "Wu Family," epitomizes a subset of hip-hop deeply rooted in the styles and philosophies of the Wu-Tang Clan. This genre is characterized by its dense and complex lyricism, often delving into themes of spirituality, philosophy, and street life with a mystical or cryptic twist. Wu Fam artists are known for their allegiance to the gritty, raw sound of 90s East Coast rap, employing kung-fu and Five-Percent Nation motifs extensively in their music. Beats are typically sample-heavy, borrowing from soul, funk, and movie scores to create moody, atmospheric backdrops for the intricate wordplay and storytelling. This niche continues the legacy of the Wu-Tang's sonic and lyrical blueprint, perpetuated by a collective of MCs and groups who align themselves with the Clan's pioneering influence on hip-hop culture.
