Jason Becker

Jason Becker is an awe-inspiring figure in the realm of guitar virtuosity, renowned for his extraordinary talent as a neoclassical metal guitarist and composer. Born on July 22, 1969, in Richmond, California, Becker's prodigious skills were evident early in his life as he quickly rose to prominence in the late 1980s. He became one half of the duo Cacophony alongside fellow guitarist Marty Friedman, with whom he released two albums, showcasing their technical proficiency and musical complexity. Subsequently, Becker embarked on a solo career, releasing his critically acclaimed album "Perpetual Burn" in 1988, which remains a milestone in the genre of shred guitar.

Tragedy struck at the pinnacle of his burgeoning career when Jason Becker was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, at the young age of 20. Despite the grim prognosis and the progressive nature of the disease that eventually took away his ability to play guitar, speak, and move, Becker's creative spirit never wavered. Utilizing technology and a determined spirit, he continued to compose music, including his albums "Perspective" and the touching "Triumphant Hearts," which features contributions from a myriad of talented guitarists paying homage to his enduring legacy. The music industry and his fans worldwide have celebrated Becker not only for his musical genius but also for his resilience and the inspiration he symbolizes in the face of overwhelming adversity.
