Lock Up

Lock Up is a grindcore supergroup that has made its mark on the extreme music scene with a no-holds-barred approach to their craft. Formed initially in 1998 by members Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Brujeria) on bass, Nick Barker (ex-Cradle of Filth, ex-Dimmu Borgir) on drums, Jesse Pintado (ex-Napalm Death, Terrorizer) on guitar, and Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) handling the vocals, Lock Up was conceived as a side project to pay homage to the raw spirit of old school grindcore and death metal. Over the years, the lineup has seen changes, including Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) and Kevin Sharp (Brutal Truth) taking over vocal duties, as well as Anton Reisenegger (Pentagram Chile, Criminal) replacing the late Pintado on guitar.

Over their career stretching more than two decades, Lock Up has remained a relentless force, continually releasing blistering material that showcases their proficiency and deep roots in extreme metal. Their catalog includes several studio albums and live recordings that highlight the band's ferocious intensity and technical skill. Notable recent releases include their critically acclaimed album "Demonization" in 2017, featuring the expertise of Sharp on vocals bringing a fresh energy to the band's savage sound. In 2021, Lock Up unleashed "The Dregs of Hades", once again reinforcing their status as stalwarts of the genre. Live recordings such as "Play Fast Or Die - Live in Japan" capture the raw live power and chaos that embodies a Lock Up performance, ensuring their legacy continues to influence the grindcore scene around the world.
