**The Todd Hobin Band** kicked off in 1974, born from the studios and classrooms of SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, with frontman Todd Hobin teaming up with guitarist/keyboardist Doug Moncrief and the original crew—Bruce Fowler on guitar, Desi Desnoyers on bass, and Todd's brother Shawn on drums. They rocked the East Coast hard through the '70s and '80s, opening for legends like **The Beach Boys**, **The Kinks**, **Allman Brothers**, and Hall & Oates, dropping albums packed with Hobin classics like "Rock My Soul," "Love Is Music," and "Keepin’ the Dream Alive." Critics dug their heavy rock vibe blending Chicago, Eagles, and Crosby, Stills & Nash sounds, and fans still cherish comps like *The Early Years* and their final bow *It's Not Over*.
The band took a hiatus as life pulled members to families and other gigs, but reunited in 2005 with Todd's son Brett stepping in on bass—keeping that tight family core alive for select Syracuse-area shows. Todd, a road warrior since his 1962 debut, bounced back from major strokes in 2018 by picking up his guitar in the hospital and hitting stages again, proving rock's in his blood for good.
