Razorcuts

Razorcuts were a seminal indie pop band that emerged from the vibrant UK independent music scene of the mid-1980s. Formed in 1985 by Gregory Webster and Tim Vass, Razorcuts carved their niche with a blend of jangly guitar pop and introspective lyrics, positioning them among the influential acts on the celebrated C86 cassette and within the Creation Records roster. Their music often contained elements of punk's energy mixed with a melodic sensibility that would influence the twee pop movement to come.

The band released their first full-length album, "Storyteller," in 1988, which cemented their status as a cornerstone among indie pop aficionados. This was followed by "The World Keeps Turning," a confident expansion of their sound that demonstrated a growing maturity in their songwriting and production. Despite the band's evolving artistry and a fervent fan base, Razorcuts disbanded in 1989. Their posthumous release, "A is for Alphabet EP," serves as a retrospective homage to their craft, offering fans a glimpse at tracks that showcase the band's ability to encapsulate the spirit of their era with poignant lyricism and infectious melodies. Razorcuts' legacy endures in the echelons of indie music history, celebrated for their contribution to the soundtrack of a generation's heartfelt yearnings and youthful reverie.
