Peter Thorup

**Peter Thorup** was a versatile Danish musician, singer, and songwriter who left a lasting mark on Scandinavia’s rock and blues scene from the 1960s until his passing in 2007. Known for his gritty voice and multi-instrumental talent, Thorup co-founded bands like Culpeper’s Orchard and collaborated with international acts such as Eric Clapton (playing in *The Eric Clapton Orchestra*) and the British band Streetwalkers. In Denmark, he became a household name as part of Bamses Venner and later charmed audiences by hosting the TV show *Bingo*. His later work, including releases like *Blues Portrait* and *Live on Tour in Germany*, showcased his deep-rooted love for blues and folk, while Danish-language albums such as *Gamle Sange I Live* highlighted his knack for reimagining traditional tunes with soulful flair. Thorup’s eclectic career blended rock energy, poetic storytelling, and a warm connection to his roots.
