Shaina Taub is an American songwriter, actor, and theatre-maker best known for her work in musical theatre. She wrote the music, lyrics, and book for *Suffs*, a musical about the U.S. women’s suffrage movement that premiered off-Broadway at The Public Theater before moving to Broadway, and she also performs in the show. Taub is also known for composing and starring in *Twelfth Night* and *As You Like It* for The Public Theater’s Public Works program, productions that helped bring Shakespeare to big, community-powered stages with large ensembles.
Alongside her theatre work, Taub releases her own music as a singer-songwriter, including albums like *Songs of the Great Hill*, and her catalog often blends sharp storytelling with a warm, folk-pop sensibility. Whether she’s writing for a cast recording or a solo record, her songs tend to put character and point-of-view front and center—smart, melodic, and built to land emotionally in a room.
