Edo Old School

Edo old school is a richly eclectic genre that threads together traditional Nigerian rhythms and melodies with elements of highlife, afrobeat, and folklore music to create an evocative tapestry of sound that resonates with Nigeria's Edo State heritage. Characterized by its use of indigenous instruments such as the ekwe, ogene, and udus, alongside guitars and percussive beats, it is a genre steeped in culture and history. It serves as both a celebration and archive of Edo's customs, stories, and community life. The intricate harmonies and storytelling lyrics transport listeners to the vibrant ceremonies and the communal gatherings of Edo, capturing the essence of its people's identity, struggles, triumphs, and festive spirits, creating an immersive auditory experience.
