Oshare Kei

Oshare Kei is a flamboyant and upbeat subgenre of the broader Japanese visual kei movement, where music intersects with fashion in a kaleidoscope of vivid aesthetics. Artists within oshare kei often present themselves with colorful and stylish costumes, hairstyles, and makeup, emphasizing a more playful and accessible approach to both their image and sound. Unlike some of the darker themes found in other visual kei subgenres, oshare kei tends to feature more positive lyrics and catchy, pop-infused rock melodies that are designed to be fun and engaging. Bands like LM.C and SuG exemplify this with their energetic performances and bright, eye-catching visuals. While it shares the theatricality and emphasis on visual presentation with the rest of the visual kei scene, oshare kei stands out due to its lighter tone and often more mainstream appeal.
