It often features emotive storytelling through its lyrics, drawing from both historical lore and present-day themes, and is characterized by its blend of the distinctive melodic structure of traditional Vietnamese "Cải Lương" with modern musical arrangements. Artists like Minh Phụng and Út Bạch Lan have historically shaped the genre, bringing to life its rich narratives through passionate vocal performances. The music typically involves a fusion of traditional instruments like the đàn tranh with western ones like the guitar, creating a harmonious blend that appeals to a wide audience. This genre acts as a bridge between the past and the present, preserving cultural heritage while embracing innovation.
