Doves

Doves are an English alternative rock band hailing from Wilmslow, Cheshire, consisting of twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals), and Jimi Goodwin (bass, vocals, guitar). The band initially formed in 1998 from the ashes of their previous project, Sub Sub, a dance music group best known for their 1993 hit "Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)." Transitioning from the electronic scene to a more guitar-oriented sound, Doves released their debut album, 'Lost Souls', in 2000 to critical acclaim, which was followed by 'The Last Broadcast' (2002) and 'Some Cities' (2005), both achieving considerable success and further establishing the band's reputation for atmospheric, melancholic sounds and reflective lyrics.

After a hiatus that began in 2010, during which the members pursued solo projects and personal interests, Doves made a long-awaited return to the music scene with their fifth studio album, 'The Universal Want', released in September 2020. This record marked a triumphant comeback after a decade, showcasing their signature expansive soundscapes and introspective songwriting. With tracks like "Carousels" and "Prisoners," Doves demonstrated their enduring ability to resonate with fans both old and new, affirming their status as one of the most enduring and enigmatic bands of the British indie scene. The band has consistently valued evocative sonic textures and a deep emotional connection with their audience, characteristics that have been the hallmark of their impressive career spanning over two decades.
