Cirkestra

Cirkestra is a Boston-based ensemble founded by accordionist and composer Peter Bufano, blending lively circus-inspired melodies with flavors of jazz, swing, and Eastern European folk. The band’s unique sound is marked by quirky arrangements and a fun-loving spirit, echoing Bufano’s deep connections with circus arts through collaborations with groups like Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Big Apple Circus, and Circus Smirkus.

Since their debut in the early 2000s, Cirkestra has released several albums—including (Fat) Life, 107, The Hairless Woman, Swing, and their self-titled album—capturing the energy of their live shows and celebrating the whimsical, theatrical roots of circus music. They've played notable venues such as the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Seattle Art Museum, and Brattle Theater, bringing their playful, genre-hopping performances to audiences of all ages.
