Bibio

Bibio, the artistic alias of English music producer Stephen Wilkinson, is a purveyor of textured soundscapes that blur the lines between electronic and acoustic, often delving into the realms of folktronica, ambient, and experimental music. Wilkinson adopted the moniker Bibio from his fond childhood memories of fishing with his father, a name inspired by a black-and-red fishing fly. His music career began in earnest when he released his debut album "Fi" in 2005 on Mush Records, after which he moved to the renowned Warp Records, cementing his place in the roster of innovative electronic artists.

Throughout his prolific career, Bibio has proven himself to be a chameleon of the music world, constantly evolving and redefining his sound. His more recent releases, such as "Sunbursting EP" and the "S.O.L. EP," showcase an artist unafraid to play with different textures, from the shimmering sounds of "Sunbursting" to the rhythmic pulses of "S.O.L. (Alan Braxe Edit)." Bibio's work is characterized by his distinctive use of analogue tape effects, field recordings, and a penchant for melodic guitar lines that drift over meticulous productions, as reflected in the nostalgic warmth of "Hand Cranked.” His music often conjures a sense of the pastoral and bucolic, yet it feels just as home with urban landscapes and contemporary life, illustrated by the more pulsating rhythms of "Potion" and the electronic glow of "Off Goes The Light." With each release, Bibio continues to enchant listeners with his intimate yet exploratory approach to music-making.
