Glass Beams is a music project founded by Indian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and producer Rajan Silva in Melbourne, Australia. The group's genesis was inspired by Silva's childhood memories, particularly watching the "Concert for George" DVD with his father, which featured a blend of Eastern and Western musical styles. This cross-cultural influence is reflected in Glass Beams' music, which combines traditional Indian elements with contemporary Western sounds. Their debut EP, "Mirage," was released in 2021 and quickly gained popularity, leading to a global following and numerous festival performances. The band is known for wearing gold bejeweled glass masks during their public appearances.
In 2024, Glass Beams released their follow-up EP, "Mahal," which entered the Billboard charts for Contemporary Jazz Albums and Jazz Albums. The band's music is characterized by its mesmerizing blend of live instrumentation and DIY electronica, creating a unique visual and auditory experience. Silva is the primary creative force behind Glass Beams, handling drumming, recording, production, and mixing duties.
